Food Bank

~ The Cedar Valley Food Pantry provides assistance for
individuals and families who reside in Black Hawk County, and
whom need assistance.

~ An appointment is not necessary the first time you attend. While
there, you can set up monthly appointments to determine
how much food you will still be needed. To make an
appointment call (319) 235-0507.

~ Items to bring the first time you attend:
1) Photo Id.
2) Verification of all household income
3) Social security cards for all houeshold members

Food Stamps

This program gives to those who qualify either paper coupons or
electronic benefits on debit cards to buy eligible food in authorized retail
food stores.

- Don't shop when you're hungry.
- Compare Stores *find good sales*
- Stick to your list!
- Compare prices.
- Check the dates on perishable items such as milk.
- Read the label for nutritional value.
- Take a calculator so you know what your limit is.
- Try buying store brands for less.
- Use coupons and rebates.
- Watch the scanner to make sure you pay the right
amount for what you bought!

~ To receive help with food assistance in the state of Iowa you must
meet several requirements:

* Be a U.S. citizen or qualified legal alien
* Live in Iowa
* Be able to provide a social security number or proof of application
for a number
* Meet income and resource limits
* Able to provide all information needed to determine eligibility and
benefit level
