Scholarships Specific to Foster Care Teens:

~ Casey Family Scholars Scholarship
This scholarship (up to $10,000) is offered to foster youth under the age of 25. It give
foster youth the opportunity to attend the national college or university of their choice.

~ Darko Rapotez Memorial College Scholarship Fund for Aged Out Foster Youth
This scholarship awards $5,000 to $10,000 in college and tuition fee assistance for foster
youth, ages 18 to 24 years. Books, housing, transportation, and other higher-education
related costs are not covered.

~ Horatio Alger Scholarship
This program awards between $2,500 and $10,000 per recipient; monies can be used to
pursue a bachelor’s degree at any accredited American college or university.

~ The Orphan Foundation of America (OFA) Scholarship
This scholarship is given annually to foster youth under the age of 25. Between $500 and
$5000 is awarded to foster youth who are planning on going to college or vocational
training. Necessary qualifications include: unmarried, U.S. foster child, and has or had a
cumulative high school GPA of at least 2.0.

~ All Iowa Opportunity Foster Care Grant and Education and Training Voucher (ETV)
Program

This scholarship is awarded to foster youth in Iowa from age 18 to 23 years old. Up to
$5,000 per year in federal funding is available, but the amount awarded to each applicant
is based on individual financial need and the program for which one qualifies.

The Herbert Hoover Uncommon Student Award is a great opportunity to give back to
your community, while being rewarded for your efforts. If you are a junior, you can apply
